Marijuana-laced candy was seized by local police from a McAllen residence on Friday, an agency news release confirmed today.
Assisted by state and federal agencies, the McAllen Police Department seized “contraband that imitates other commercially available candy” from a residence in the vicinity of 25th Street and Lindberg Avenue.
The products, according to the release, were laced with tetrahydrocannabinol, or THC. Photos of the contraband, which the department released, show packaging labeled “High Chew” with 300 mg of THC. The packaging is also labeled as “edibles” and come in a variety of flavors, including Gummy Bears, Franken Berry and Trix, as well as other imitations of popular brands.
“The department is taking the opportunity to inform the public about this type contraband that imitates commercially available candy and is laced with tetrahydrocannabinol,” the news release read.
